Re: What Ever Happened to the Radial Arm Saw?
IN TEACHING WOODWORKING/CONSTRUTION IN A HIGH SCHOOL, I USE MY 12" DELTA RAS STRCTLY FOR CUTTING OUT ROUGH LENGTHS OF LUMBER WHICH MY STUDENTS WILL THEN TAKE THROUGH THE SQUARING UP PROCESS. I COULD NOT IMAGINE DOING A RIP CUT ON THIS MONSTER AND I FIND IT OUT OF SQUARE AND INACCURATE ON MITRES AND BEVELS AND SUCH WITHIN A FEW WEEKS AFTER SETTING IT UP. SO I DON'T EVEN BOTHER WITH TRYING TO KEEP IT SQUARE. EVERY FEW WEEKS I MOVE THE CARRIAGE ANOTHER DEGREE TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT JUST TO KEEP IT FAIRLY CLOSE AND USE THE SCMS TO DO ALL OF OUR ACCURATE CUTS
