Re: Make a Simple Clamp for Perfect Miters

Good idea. BUT, I guess I am too picky. I don't like the small dimples that the points make. and if they slip, then you have a nice scratch to fix. Yeah! Yes, the points are small and easily hidden.

But I use the a professional 2P-10 wood adhesive cyanoacrylate glue and spray activator to hold the joint together prior to nailing. First I apply a adequate amount of cyanoacrylate glue to one angle cut edge, then I spray the activator to the other angle edge cut, then hold together for 10-15 seconds, then use a Pinner or nailer to finish the job. The glue is very strong and easy to use. No slippage, No screw points to fill or slips to fix.

I have made frames with the glue only and have put my 200# on it and it hasn't moved or broke apart.

Thanks..

Re: Prediction 2010: Granite Countertops Are So Last Decade

Just like time, everything changes. I agree granite will not withstand the test of time long term. Solid surfaces, butcher block and plastic laminates will last the longest due to pricing, construction and the overall economy. I am a custom woodworker, so I am more partial to solid wood butcher block tops or a mixture of solid surfaces and plastics. I have all three in my Log home. Solid surface in the kitchen with hardwood butcher block island, laminate tops in mud/laundry room, tile tops in baths. of Taken care of, all will last a lifetime with minimum maintenance.

Like the seasons, all things change. Just have to decide which is best for your business, home, lifestyle and your conscience.

Re: Titanium hammers up for grabs. Want one?

I remember the days of my dad and grandfather who where carpenters. No power tools, table saws, skil saws, electric or battery powered drils, ONLY handsaws, hand miter boxes, chisels, and the trusted HAMMER. Today, I make custom furniture and cabinetry using power saws, sanders, routers, air nail guns, BUT I still use my hammer more that any tool I have.
I am always looking to new technology to a old standby tool.
