Vintage Stair Recreated
This vintage style stairway is made from salvaged newel posts, with one more recreated to match. Carpentry by Bruce Hamachek of Spring Green, Wisconsin.
This U-shaped stairway connects a basement level rec room with a main floor living room and continues up to the bedrooms on the second floor. Notice framed painting of house at the landing.
In the course of renovations, a lovely transom window was removed and relocated here at the stair landing. It's nicely backlit by a skylight.
When we added a family room to the back of a turn-of-last-century farmhouse, the stairway was relocated. Our carpenter salvaged the newel posts, and recreated one more along with new balusters and rails.
