Walnut Stairway with Scalloped Stringers
This striking stairway was created from a neglected stack of walnut boards, milled & set to dry in the family’s barn 20 years before by the grandfather. Timbergreen Farm was hired to design & install the stairway from the family wood. They also installed wood floors in four adjacent rooms, using sustainably harvested oak & elm from their farm in Spring Green, Wisconsin. Strips of the family’s walnut provide accent. Each room has it’s own distinctive blend.
Walnut risers add dimension to the stairs, and the tonal contrast offers safer passage. The decorative skirting brackets were inspired by the treble clef, to play on the homeowner's love of music. The scalloped edges were cut with a 50 watt laser engraver/cutter.
Newel post in walnut, balusters are oak & elm.
Wood flooring of oak, elm, and walnut.....each room unique.
