Eco-fying My Cabin
My cabin by the lake was already awesome, but it was important to me to go-green in every way possible. My first undertaking was the roof. I removed the old, dilapitated roof tiles and replaced them with this aluminum roof. I had seen this roof on other more modern homes throughout Oklahoma, and other parts of the country, but wasn’t sure how it would look on a traditional log cabin. Aluminum roofing material is one of the best roofing options. For me, it was the greenest and most economical option. This roofing material increases energy efficiency, especially during the summer. These panels can reflect 90 percent of the sunlight away from your home. Which is a great thing in Oklahoma where we have intense sun. Aluminum is also resistant to hail damage, and in Oklahoma we have a lot of hail storms. And they are also fire resistant.
