Instead of trying to pry or hammer out a stuck piece of wood from a hole saw or plug cutter, try driving a large wood screw through the piece until it bottoms out on the metal. The screw will continue to spin, allowing the threads to extract the jammed piece. Just make sure the screw is large enough so you don’t run out of threads. Usually works like a charm.
