Editor's Review: Selecting a Circular Saw

review date: September 1, 2001

We struggled with this saw for a day or two before realizing that the centerline of the handle is an inch farther from the blade than any of the other saws we tested. This extra inch upset the saw's balance and created more twisting action, which perhaps partly explains why the saw was so much less comfortable to use. Its heavy weight compounded the problem. The baseplate is made of stamped steel with rolled up edges. In general, this saw didn't seem to be in the same league with the rest of the professional-level saws we tested. Even the home handyman would be wise to spend a few extra dollars to upgrade to another saw.
