Editor's Review: Reciprocating-Saw Showdown

review date: October 1, 2005

Nearly identical to the Porter-Cable 9750 TigerClaw, this saw stands out from the rest of the saws tested because it can articulate, making possible cuts in confined, hard-to-reach places that are roadblocks for other saws. This saw receives no high marks for cutting speed or handling, but the barrel-shaped end can spin 360 degrees--positioning the blade at any angle to the body of the saw--and the elbow in the middle of the body hinges 90 degrees in either direction. In addition, the rear handles rotates 360 degrees. As a bonus, the small nose makes it easy to get a firm grasp on the business end of the saw.
