Editor's Review: Cleanable Nut Driver
review date: July 12, 2012
Anybody who’s spent time driving self-tapping screws into metal knows the annoyance of a clogged nut driver. The problem is that metal-to-metal fastening creates metal shavings, which get stuck to the magnet inside a nut driver. There, they interfere with the magnet’s ability to hold onto the head of the screw. They’re also nearly impossible to clean out. DeWalt now has a magnetic nut driver with a sliding pusher that allows you to clean off the magnet, ensuring a good connection between magnet and fastener. Don’t be too worried about the sliding parts being a weak point, though. This nut driver is part of DeWalt’s Impact Ready line and is built to handle the kind of beating that only an impact driver can dish out. Prices start at about $6.
