Editor's Review: Organization for Your Tools

review date: May 1, 2004

To maintain quality while holding down costs, Duluth Trading Co., a distributor of job-site products and apparel, has introduced its own line of products called the Master Series.

As one of 20 or so new products aimed at job-site organization, Duluth's tool belt exhibits both good design and durability. Its wide, padded belt cushions the weight of a loaded tool belt, while its absorbent lining wicks moisture from the waist. The belt straps on with hook-and-loop fasteners backed up by a double-pronged leather belt that's riveted to the wider section.

The pockets and pouches are made of heavy fabric, having 10 times the tear resistance of leather, according to Duluth. The two large "stay-open" pockets have smaller pockets within, are reinforced at the rim, and are double-lined at the bottom. The belt also comes with three smaller pouches, two hammer loops, and a sort of sawed-off sheath that's perfect for holding a flat pry bar. Two fabric loops can be used for hanging the belt at day's end or for hoisting it back into position on the user's waist. The belts come in small/medium (28 in. to 38 in.) and large/extra-large (36 in. to 48 in.).
