While researching an article about factory-finished siding, Fine Homebuilding editor John Ross visited several cedar siding lumber mills in British Columbia, Canada. He found that through a complex and extensive process involving a great deal of machinery and teamwork, large amounts of wood are pulled in from the water near the factories and then cut, processed, and inspected, prior to delivery.
