There's a Better Way: Insulation T-lift

Rick Nelson, of Alameda, Calf., hates installing fiberglass insulation, especially overhead. Faced with this task, he came up with the tool featured in this video. Made of 2x2s screwed and glued at their intersection and a couple of long finish nails, this simple assembly allows him to spear unfaced fiberglass batts at floor level and hoist them into position between floor joists. A bigger version can be made for insulating 12-ft.-tall ceilings and tall walls.

As Chuck notes in the video, you should resist the temptation to work with fiberglass insulation without the proper safety gear. You can find HEPA Airmate helmets similar to the one Chuck owns by visiting the manufacturer's Web site.
