Once you peel off the tape that keeps a roll of aluminum coil stock under control, you run the risk of dealing with an unruly spool of flashing material. String and duct tape both work, but they are cumbersome and time-consuming to use. Instead, I slip an old 3-in. by 24-in. sanding belt over the coil. The sanding belt holds the flashing tight and comes off with ease when I need a piece of flashing.
