Using classic modernist materials of glass and steel, architect William Hanley put them to good use in this house he designed for a client in coastal Maine. Floor to ceiling windows on the water side of the house guarantee dramatic vistas and plenty of light. The transparency of the house is spectacular, allowing expansive views of the natural landscape as well as the outdoor room just outside the dining room shown here. The polished granite dining table adds another reflective surface in the late afternoon sun….
