Winter is coming, and for most of us that means short days, long nights, and lots of time indoors. The remaining days of autumn offer us our last opportunity to sit comfortably outside and enjoy the late afternoon light, like on this lovely porch in coastal Maine. Designed by architect Stephen Blatt of Portland, this house overlooks a beautiful autumnal scene and the Atlantic Ocean beyond. Good design makes maximum use of the site and creates handsome places from which to enjoy the surroundings. This porch is a good example of just that.
