How to Install Flared Sidewall Shingles

Given the weather conditions in New England, I would opt for P/T lumber for the bottom horizontal member. Far too many homes are constructed with the bottom of the siding too close to the ground and then the foundation concealed with dense vegetation.
This method doesn't fare well if you're also trying for a 'rain screen' type of installation - I suppose one could use multiple layers of Cor-A-Vent in place of the lumber, but the middle block-out present a problem trying to resist the outward pull of the curved in the shingles.
