Clever Kitchen Storage Solutions

These two drawer and cabinet systems from Rev-a-Shelf bring organization to busy spaces.

By Lana Melonakos-Harrison Issue 313 - Feb/March 2023

I recently moved from a 600-sq.-ft. home with a tiny kitchen to a house with one that’s  significantly larger. While I now have much more counter space, one thing has remained constant in the transition is the need for effective storage solutions. Whether you’re working with a large or small kitchen, appropriate places to store all the items this hardworking room accumulates is essential but often a challenge made even more difficult when you’re working with odd-sized cabinets.

The Maxx Drawer System and Cabinet Pullout With Knife Block are two products from Rev-a-Shelf that make better use of kitchen cabinets that otherwise wouldn’t have much utility.

Keep drawers organized

Much like cantilevered toolbox designs, the Maxx Drawer System makes more efficient use of kitchen drawers by providing two top trays that fold out when the drawer is opened and then easily store on top of the main compartment when the drawer is closed. The moveable dividers are great for organizing items such as scissors, pens, sticky notes, and kitchen twine. This three-part drawer replaces a one-compartment cavity and is made of natural maple wood. It’s designed for 24-in. face-frame and framless cabinet drawers and can be integrated with the drawer fronts used in the rest of the kitchen.

Better knife storage

The Base Cabinet Pullout insert comes with bins for utensils and storage space for loose items such as Tupperware. It also has a universal knife block that provides the accessibility and edge-protecting qualities of a traditional knife block while eliminating the need to sacrifice valuable countertop space. These cabinet pullouts are available in five widths and are compatible with both face-frame and frameless base cabinets. They are installed inside the existing cabinet box and attach to the back of the exiting cabinet fronts to maintain aesthetic cohesion with the room.

The Maxx Drawer System is available for $424 and the Base Cabinet Pullout starts at $662.
