Storage-Bin Solution
Organize your tools and hardware on the wall by hanging unused bins on this variation on a French cleat.
I have bought several of those Milwaukee Packout modular storage boxes. I find them really convenient, but many of them include smaller organizer bins within that I often remove in order to make room for a larger tool. I eventually ended up with a pile of these bins, so I created a variation of a French cleat that allows me to hang them on my shop wall. I ripped down strips of 3/4-in. wood and created a kerf on the top side to accept the lip on the bins. The bins hang nicely and are easy to remove from the storage bin rack. I’ve loaded mine up with some pretty heavy hardware and hand tools with no issues. I’m sure the same technique would work for storage bins from many other makers.
