Better Plumb Cuts on Hips or Valleys
Make cleaner, more accurate plumb cuts by adjusting your saw depth for better stability on the second pass.
Here is a tip for creating plumb cuts on hip or valley rafters. When you set your saw to make the first 45° cut, set the blade depth to cut just a little more than halfway through the board. That way, when you flip the board for the second 45° cut, there is a larger surface area on which to rest the baseplate of your saw, making it easier to cut accurately.
