Setting up an Amazon tool store on my website and just out of curiosity selected the "sort by highest price first" option. Then had to go to Amazon.com to make sure it wasn't a glitch in the software I'm using. Not a glitch, it's really there. No doubt a typo, but still funny.--------------------------------------------------------

Didn't think about that possibility. Certainly could be. And changes something small enough just to show they were there, but not big enough to get noticed real soon.

I had my server hacked once. 14 websites, all the same thing. Somebody changed only the index page to thier own page. A black background with an evil looking face, and a phrase something like "Your website has been HAD by.. ") I forget the name, something like Bishop85 or similar. Anyway, it also had a comment at the bottom not to worry, only the index.html file had been changed, and even had instructions how to change it back. Apparently done to show his little hacker club that he could do it. --------------------------------------------------------

Maybe we could save on shipping if we pooled together and bought a dozen at one time. Send me your payment via paypal with your address and I will send you your bit when they arrive.

Great, do understand though that they 5 days to ship from Ace. I will turn them around the moment they hit the door.TFB (Bill)

        1. HammerHarry | Jun 21, 2008 03:57pm | #27

The interesting thing is, the Amazon site says 'sold by, and shipped from, Ace hardware', and on the Ace Hardware site, the price is significantly less.

So it must be a typo at Ace Hardware, or the manufacturer's price list, but the price difference makes me wonder - does Amazon have such a significant markup difference when they're essentially reselling Ace items?  I think this is an interesting insight into the inner workings of Amazon.

I didn't catch that part. (can't accuse me of paying attention <g>)

I always thought there was no markup when they sell for somebody else, just that the sombody else pays a percentage to amazon. Apparently that's not the case. Or maybe Ace has it marked up at amazon. Heck, maybe both!

I wonder if either of them have sold any?--------------------------------------------------------

Well something is clearly screwed up. I would not use that one point figure out if there is a markup or not. Also it says that it takes 4-5 extra days for an order from Ace. and that is not common either..

At that price you could have one mounted on a ring to give to your girl friend. She would think you are loaded!
I wonder how much more a Torx version would cost?
