been thinking about a narrow crown stapler.
looking at them, they seem to be 18 ga. when I look at an 18 ga brad, it doesn’t seem like it will be much of a staple.
Is an 18ga brad and an 18ga staple the same size diameter?
Ive pulled some narrow crown staples out of some lattice, and they seem thicker than the brads.

Repeat after me ... a pound of feathers weighs the same as a pound of lead.
The holding power of a stple is greater for two reasons: two legs as opposed to one, and the "head" of the staple does not pull through the material nearly as easily as the small head of the brad.

I will listen to what Fast Eddie tells me because he's right.
Get both guns, they're cheap enough. Different applications is all.
Also,I'll add that the staples usually angle themselves in a bit, increasing the holding power quite a bit. It's actually amazing how much they do hold.JT
Narrow crown stapler shoots max 1¼"?
18 ga brads 2".
If your building crates, get the stapler.
If your trimming a house, get the brad nailer.

I have a brad nailer (18 ga) and am thinking of getting a stapler. When I look at staplers on line, they all seem to be 18 ga.when I look at the staples used to make lattice it appears that the stapels are larger than 18 ga.Hence the question, is an 18 ga brad and an 18 ga staple using the same measurement in reference to gauge?

They make staplers in several sizes. Most larger staples are used in industrial applications though. Not very popular outside of manufacturing markets. Like the people who make lattice.
I think there's three basic stapler sizes: narrow crown, medium crown, and wide crown. And I think the wire guages are different too. But an 18 ga brad is the same diameter as an 18 ga staple.
