I’m putting a new front porch on my house and it appears that in order to maximize the depth of the porch that I’ll end up with something in between a 3/12 and a 4/12 shed roof. I know that because of wind concerns that this is not optimal however if you were to shingle a 3/12 roof what exposure would you use. I think I would use the selfstick icedam membrane stuff on the entire deck as a shingle underlayment. Other than that what other precautions would you take?

Most laminated shingles (check with the manufacturer) allow you to install them on a 3/12, especially with ice barrier membrane underneath. Use the manufacturer's suggested exposure.
I think most regular shingles are speced for 3/12 if you use ice dam under them.
Open porch?
Asphalt shingles?
Don't even need the icea and water shield, unless you have a valley dumping tons of water in one spot where you might have snow drifts etc.
3/12 is the normal minimum and a porch would have no heat under it to cause ice damming so plain old 15# paper should be fine.
BTW, any asphlat shingle should be laid at the exposure it is designed for to get optimum sealdown effectiveness.

Thanks for the replies. It will be an open porch with asphalt shingles.
