i have a modine gas fired heater in my small shop and it used to work great, but now it only works for appr. 5 minutes before the heat shuts off. blower is still going but no heat. there is a small reset button under a small coverplate on top of the unit . after the unit cools off a bit i hit that button, then i flip the switch and the heater kicks back on for a couple of minutes. does anybody know how to solve that problem. i bought the unit new about 15 years ago and has not been used a lot.

Not sure if this manual matches with your unit. Could be hi temp limit is shutting it off.
i believe your hi temp switch is bad, thats what probably has the reset button on it. does it have a couple wires going to it? when its running check it with a volt meter.i think on that modine it will be 120 volts, but it could also be 24v, either way see if voltage is going in and out, then when it shuts off only one side has voltage.if so it's bad OR and this is very important, your chamber is overheating, which could be a fire or c o hazard and it's kicking for a real reason. but i cant see that with a unit heater unless the flue was plugged
pull it off and go to a hvac place, graingers . a new one will not cost much.
