I would pick 66% because it takes 34 days to reach 100%, so 100% can't be the correct answer.
it depends on the mix and how it was place but more likely it will be close to 66%
There ar e alot of variables not given, but the 66 is closest to reality

OK... but what about high early strength mix?!

The question referred to "Normal" not high early mixes.
66% is closest to the correct value.

hi Jon, I am gonna be takin the VA test soon myself. What kinda tips could you offer. I was gonna take that no pass no pay class first I hear advertised. Did you do that?
I would not take the class. Most of the test is comprised of looking information up in the NASCLA book and the IRC. Just familiarize yourself with the books and learn what is in each chapter. You will be tested more on your ability to use the reference tools than your knowledge.

I'll have to agree with this post. I sat for and passed the "Class A" qualifier exams for Virginia in May, 2000. Buisness & Practical sections were very similiar. At that time they had some practice exams that could be ordered and reviewed. If you were not sure of the correct answer but knew where to look in the reference material, it was a 'no brainer'. However, I must qualify this last statement by saying that if you don't have a clue to start out with, you may not pass either section on the first go 'round.
Is Experion still administering the test for Virginia??

As a test question there can only be one right answer. The strength of concrete is stated, by definition, as the strength it has on the 28th day. So concrete has 100% of its design strength on the 28th day, therefore before 28 days it must be less. So 66% is the right answer.
I have a chart of concrete strength over time, and the strength of Type I -- Normal concrete after 7 days is just about 66% of its design strength.
but that is really a trick question because nearly all mixes will be 100% at 28 days because that what it design for. No mixes are design for seven days so breaks can run from 30% ( reducer mix) to 100% at seven days, but all will be 100% at 28. But common knowelge not design or book knowelge, most mixes run about 3/4 strenth. Ok. now what about three day break, huh. They cannot ask what a seven day break is because there no true answer.
I wouldn't call it a trick question at all. Normal Type I concrete reaches about 2/3 of its strength in 7 days. The point of the question is not whether it's 66% or 60%, but that concrete does not reach full rated strength by 7 days. The question is only a trick to people who try to read too much into it.
