A couple stair-building questions
I have a modicum of experience building stairs. Would like a couple of opinions, tho… 1) Do 36″ stairs need a third stringer? Or do 2 suffice? 2) What’s the best way to make the top step into a 36″ square landing? This little landing will be corned (2 walls). 2×6’s off 2×10 hangers from the beam to the wall?

What are your treads going to be?
If 2x framing lumber or 5/4 hardwood - 36" is no problem.
If you attach your risers to the treads, you will gain even more support.
I'm not sure what your second question is.
I would assume just frame a landing and mount your stair stringers to it.
Terry
3 rough stringers, and add at least one 2x4 to the lower side of the middle stringer.
Frame the landing like the rest of the floor system.
