Acid Stained Concrete for Outside Porch?
I’m building a two story garden shed with an 8’x32 concrete porch.
The building will have a tan paint over Hardiboard Vertical siding. The underside of the porch is done in Western Red Cedar with porch rafters to be wrapped with WRCedar. Four 6×6 porch posts, door trim, with porch railing and turnings will all be white.
I’m thinking about staining the concrete porch floor, so it looks old. Porch will have a two person swing on each end and wooden rocking chairs to give you an idea of concentrated places of foot traffic and foot wear zones.
Can an Acid Stained Concrete hold up to outside exposure and a West to North West sun exposures? Any suggestions for longevity? Concrete had a waterproofer mixed into the pour, will that complicate things?
Thanks for you help,
Bill

I saw signs of wear on acid colored concrete used on the front steps of house. The house was only a few years old but the treads showed wear from foot traffic that lightened the color.
Maybe this was a poor stain job, but it made me wonder about the long-term durability of that type of finish.

Yes, if you put a protective coating over it.

Topcoat it with something like this:

But do so in two coats. The top coat gets an anti-slip abrasive powder added, cause this is slipperyer than snot when wet. It has the body of a heavy poly. Use it outdoors or with good ventilation.

It may with the water-based stain. Possible it won't be able to get into the ceement to react. You'll have to try it.
