Acoustical Sealant recommendations?
I have a c. 1930 cape with an unvented roof and faced fiberglass batts in the rafters. The insulation is about 40 years old, very fragile, with lots of hard to fix gaps and sags. Ultimately I think the solution is to remove it all and spray the underside of the roof deck, but to get through this season and put off demolishing my ceilings I plan to install a poly sheet air barrier against the rafters in the unfinished spaces to tighten things up.
I’m trying to find the right acoustical sealant or non-hardening caulk for adhering the poly to the wood framing at the perimeter, one that is readily available to a homeowner in small quantities. If you have experience with any of this stuff I’d love to read your opinion.

You can get the typical "Black Death" Acoustiseal stuff at most building supply places.

Our yard carries this: http://www.osisealants.com/Products.aspx?ID=OSI%C2%AE-Pro-Series%C2%AE-SC-170%E2%84%A2-Acoustical-Sound-Sealant.
However, if it's a temporary fix, you could use any number of high quality caulks that are designed to remain flexible. NP1, Vulkem, any butyl rubber caulk, etc. I caulked some pieces of poly over my basement windows three years ago with Vulkem, and it is still functioning fine.
