Putting a “block” window over a whirlpool tub in our master bath. Can any of you enlighten me about the benefits/drawbacks of acrylic vs. glass? In either case, it would probably be a pre-fab window.

Just guessing here...won't the acrylic scratch?

*Not only will it scratch but it melts. In fact, last job I was on I watched the knothead painter wipe splatters of the "block" with a spirit soaked rag. Transparent became opaque.Same window was installed cattywampus--you can really see it because of all the "divided lites"--so I guess that window was doomed. What I'm saying here is if the window is even 1/4" in 10' out of plumb you can see it bigtime.
*i prefer regular fixed opaque glass to a block type window. Most bath windows in my area are in back of the house and cost is $100 vs $400. Unless you just want a block look I would go with opaque glass.
