I’m doing a basement remodal and have to add a couple ceiling vents. I have about 12″ of clearance between the main horizontal trunk and the floor above and floor joist on each side 16oc. Any techniques for cutting 6″ diameter holes on top of the trunk in tight quarters?

Even if there is only approx 5" of space above and to the sides, your red and /or green handled snips will do it. No problem.
