Does anyone have a ball park cost per square foot figure for building a addition on to an existing home that will need some masonry work but mostly stick building a 14 ftx 21 ft room with some windows and normal roof?

Hi Jim, Welcome to Breaktime.
The question you posed really can't receive an accurate answer as it is seeing there are too many variables involved, be it standard 2x4 construction, insulated, type of windows, more data on the masonry, where you are located, slab foundation etc.
If you reformulate the question putting in a bit more of detailed data some folks that post here might be able to get you a ballpark figure.
What part of the country are you from?
$150 - 450 sq ft.
Let's go for 1500 and split the margin....
Who ever invented work didn't know how to fish....
I was going to say $50/SF to $500/SF, give or take. Maybe I'm just a bit more optomistic on the low end....lol.
Bob
$50/sq ft - what's that, a tent? :-)
Regards,
Tim Ruttan
I said I was being "optimistic on the low end". Gotta throw that lowball number out sometimes to get the job...lol
Bob
$75.

There is no way you can build an addition for 75 a square foot the tearout alone will 5-10 a sq. ft.
I like to start at 200 a sq. ft and if you go high end on stuff the skys the limit.
ANDYSZ2I MAY DISAGREE WITH WHAT YOUR SAYING BUT I WILL DEFEND TO THE DEATH YOUR RIGHT TO SAY IT.
Remodeler/Punchout
$76?

We just added on about 1000 sq ft, including kitchen, 1/2 bath & family room. Includes walkout basement, tear down of old kitchen & family room, & slab. I would say we were "mid-priced" .overall .....granite counters, custom cabinets, high-end Marvins, wood floors, and "normal" everything else. Came to about $175 / sq foot. But to estimate for someone else requires a lot of info and will probably result in sticker shock or undue optimism
Additions and remos are ALWAYS more expensive per foot than new work.
Any plumbing?Kitchens and baths are the most expensive parts of the house.
What sort of foundations go in around your stomping grounds. Matter of fact, where do you stomp? That one piece of info can change the price by a factor of three. Not only local economic conditions but underlying soils and climate effect price of finished product and foundation.
"some windows"
Windows are also a high dollar item. What kind do you have now. I just priced some that I can gert anywhere from $470 each up to almost three grand per unit.
"existing home"
What kind of home have you got now? The addition should match it. Was your present home built at $65/ft or at $450/ft.
Ballpark?
are you a high hitter, or does the coach send you in to bunt?
How's $140 to $300 grab you?

Jeff, Jeff!
You need to pay attention to the details. He told you EXACTLY where he wants it.

And we have our winnah!
Kinda like asking ...... "How much does a car cost ?"
I don't think he's listening. But I think I could do it fer a hunnerd dollars.
Let me start off by welcoming you to breaktime. Secondly, no I am certainly not going to guess at your price, but figure about 50% more than to build the equivalent part of a new house for a start.
Now let me apologize for the smart-@#% answers from some of the old timers here. We tend to forget that not everyone gets asked the impossible questions as frequently as it can happen in construction. So they take it out on the innocent bystanders to amuse themselves.
If you willl take the time to give as much information as you can provide, some here can get you a good guess, but you won't really know until a LOT of details are decided on. Good luck
Dan
It really depends on the color.
Red can be very expensive if youre in New Jersey,
Blue houses can cost an arm and A leg if your in the midwest.
Oh ya ! dont ask for prices on arms and legs.
Dogboy
