Both windows fell out of my utilty cap. One on the lift up door was replaced with metal but I got a piece of 3/16 lexan for the window at the front end of the bed. What would work to bond polycarbonate to the metal? Or should I drill/bolt/seal w/ silcone?

clamping frame held in place with nuts and bolts...
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming
WOW!!! What a Ride!
Forget the primal scream, just ROAR!!!
Silicone will work. I make signs by sandwiching a laser printed page between 2 lexan sheets and sealing the edges with clear silicone. They seem to last forever.
I have never seen an adhesive on Laxan work signs made with it alwys have it betwwn two frames clamping it.
I replaced a greehouse roof panels with new ones - polycarbonate.
The old silicone peeled right off - it was there for a seal between the plastic and the AL, but not as an adhesive.
And a vehicle with rattles and vibrations and high wind speeds would be even harder to hold in place.

Lexel.
Hot glue gun with polycarbonate sticks.
(aka welding<G>)
How well did that lexel stay stuck to the lexan and metal, in the old jimmy ?..It's all fun and games, until someone puts an eye out..You are always welcome at Quittintime
Peeled right off* IIRC, I'll take a look at the scrap pile later today and post again later.
* after the every 1" sheet metal screws were removed <G>
BTW, what airplanes use for polycarbonate to metal is a 2 part urethane, such as 3M DP604, retails for about $10 for 50 mL. Comes in 5 gal pails also for a 'few' hundred bucks each.

Ouch !Maybe I'll have to re-think my sealants. Would you think it would have been better or worse had I used silicone or something else ?I'll bet that removing those screws was almost as much fun as putting them in.;o)..It's all fun and games, until someone puts an eye out..You are always welcome at Quittintime
I love lexel for a lot of things, and I do think Lexan is one of the things that it won't do well. Lexan is less affected by the solvent in Lexel than cast acrylic ( plexiglas).
I used a lot of Lexan for clear jigs, and even cyanoacrylate didn't always stay stuck.

The tooth would help, cuz the tolulene won't bite.I resorted to 3m super high strength double sided tape for critical joining.Spheramid Enterprises Architectural Woodworks

Wasn't aware of the aircraft angle.
This is a frequent topic of discussion on a number of Jeep and off-road websites, and the consensus is to bolt it and hope for the best with leakage. Too much differential movement between the Lexan and the metal frames
I was wondering if that was available, but will it stick to metal frame?
