Any recommendations for a homeowner? I borrowed one from the Sysop for the exterior a few years ago and I thought it was great… I think it was a Graco? I may hit him up again but am now thinking of getting my own (so maybe he’ll invite me to his pool NEXT year). Looking to spend maybe $300 or so. My current need is interior but I’ll be heading out before long.
Thanks in advance!

the graco is nice, the one I have is a wagner and it pretty good. some people do not like wagner but mine been ok, no problems.
Do you mean that we can barrow tools from the Sysop?
Thats great news.
$300 wont really buy a quality airless that can handle latex paint adequately. Youre better off going to your pro paint store and see if they offer rentals.
Since it sounds like you dont really use one enough to justify buying a quality pump for around $800+ youre better off renting.
Graco and Spraytech are good pumps, I prefer graco.
Figuring about 800-1300 for a pump and about another 100 in tips (25 a pop or so) will put you in the ownership of a quality pump.
The cheaper rigs 300-500 need a rebuild after about 100 (50 if you shoot laq.) gallons, that can set you back $100+ for the rebuild.
YOu can buy a graco unit new for 300, but it simply doesnt have the volume to shoot latex paint well enough to mess with. Unless you leave it as a dedicated roller pump.
Check out the web for reconditioned pro model. Got a Wagner 835 for $20 as-is at a garage sale, all it needed was a cleaning and priming knob. Great spray pattern, good coverage, probably can find for under $200 reconditioned on the web.

Probably less than $20 for needed parts for a rebuild DIY (don' t loose the carbide ball, those set you back about $10 by themselves)
