Any info on designing alternating tread stairs such as the Lapeyre Stair for residential use? Do these stairs meet code? We’d like to use them for access to a loft. Thanks for any help.

There was an article in FHB aboiut 2 yrs ago about a house built in Mexico. The architect/ho used those stairs to get to a roof top cistern.
Most codes allow them only for uninhabited areas ie storage areas and unconditioned spaces. I have not been able to get my building dept to ok one, but good luck.
