Hey everyone:
I have a question for you guys and I’m hoping that you can help. I have a customer with those nasty aluminum jamb liners with the spirex balances. They were retrofitted to the sash many years ago. My problem is this, the aluminum jamb liners have deteriorated to the point that they are shredding and jamming the windows. “No problem” I say, and order some vinyl liners designed to replace the aluminum/spirex combination. Well, I go to install them and discover that when the sash were retrofitted, they plowed out the sides of the sash with too large a bit so the new vinyl liners which use a saddle to suupport the sash just won’t work. In fact the saddles slide up into these oversized plows about 3″ and then jam the whole mess up! I haven’t been able to locate any new jamb liners that work and my local lumber yard can’t even find a supplier for the old style aluminum liners.
I don’t want to replace the sash because they are antique and original to the house (2over 2’s about 60″ total height). Does anyone have a source for this style liner? I can always splice in a small block of wood at the bottom corners of each sash that would ride on the saddle but I’d like to find a more straightforward solution if I can.
Thanks!, BILL

They don't show liners, but have lots of window parts.

I tried Blaine & Strybuc with no luck. Blaine used to carry them (that's where my local yard used to get them) but, according to the person that we spoke to this afternoon, they no longer have them.
Any other suggestions?
