Hi Everyone,
Thinking of doing Andersen 400 Series casements with the Low E-4 glass in my home. Is Andersen still the quality they were 10-15 years back? I always thought they were quite nice when I installed them.
I’m thinking pine interiors but can’t decide on exterior color with red cedar shingles.
Thanks.

400 series is a fine choice. I have them in my house and chose to use them when I built my addition here about 4 years ago. I mostly use Marvin and the Integrity models of Marvin, but I think Anderson is just as good.
I have used the 400 series.
Good window, but more expensive than the competition.
I compare them to Toll Brothers. Basically the same product but they have marketed themselves so well that they can get more $$ for the product. That's my thoughts anyway.
The 200 series is a good window as well. Fewer choices and features, but more cost effective if it works for you .
I just put the 400 series in my half built house. I had the older ones from the 70's in my last house and loved them.
For heaven's sake do the outside in white. The forest green would make it look like Christmas all year round. The tan and brown would make the red shingles look muddy. I do wish they had more colors without having to pay for custom coloring.

I just installed a bunch of Andersen 400 series casements this week and think they are one of the sweetest windows going. Fit. finish and operation are excellent. I'd go for the white exterior, goes with everything. You can always add painted trim for curb appeal.
By the way, low-e glass is standard on the 400 series.

Thanks Guy'sI'll stick to the 400 series, always liked Andersen in the past.
I will also stick to white exterior.Happy Holidays
You'll be happy with the 400s. We're wrapping up an addition on a place that has 25 yr old Andersens, still fine, Terratone's just a little faded. The new 400 woodwrights we added are a pleasure to work with. Good u values, too. Winterlude, Winterlude, my little daisy,

Come out tonight, ev'rything will be tight,

BTW - In addition to the low-e as standard, the new 400's have self cleaning glass. Now if I could only find a floor that mops itself-.tigger

I recently used some jeldwen windows and was impressed as well.

Anderson 400's are a great choice IMO. They're my favorite new construction window to install in my frames.... they're actually square out of the box.... go figure! Here in the Northeast anyway, they are tops in customer service. Used them in my own house and would do it again in a heartbeat. Other windows certainly are available with more bells and whistles, but for customer service and bang for the buck, they can't be beat in my book.
I have Anderson 400 series windows (circa 1994)in my house. They apparently had a problem with the sealing system and they are now failing. Most of the glass is wavy and distorted like a fun house mirror. Get frost in the center of the interior side. Had one spontaneously shatter. Be aware that if you break a pane, you cannot replace just the glass. You have to replace the whole sash. Lawnmower threw a rock thru one window, and my replacement is still not here after 4 weeks.
Gary , Andersen warrants this condition, I've replaced plenty as a service rep. a number of years back. Their service was always top notch IMO.

Gary, sounds like you have collapsed glass. Call Andersen and they will send a tech out to correct the problem at no cost to you.
Andersen usually has a 5 week lead time... probably a little longer during these holidays. Winterlude, Winterlude, my little daisy,
