I was delighted to receive a signed copy by no other than the man himself….Andy Engel. Andy has just come out with a very professionally done book on stairbuilding.
I was reading in the acknowledgement section and was surprised and very flattered to have been mentioned. Thanks so much Andy…and may this be the top selling stair book yet.

I'll have to check out the book.
But on another note, given your profession and hobby, a new tagline for you-

I hear his co-author was named Larry something-or-other.

Larry was probably a ghost writer, Andy has the sex appeal to sell the book!

Thanks for the plug, Stan. Few if any books contain just the author's original ideas. We've all learned from others. You, and JLC's Jed Dixon, have taught me a lot about stairs, and you were both generous with your knowledge while I was writing. I can't thank either of you enough for that.
I should also thank my editors. Robyn Aitken, who you all might know as the FHB web editor, started the book with me. Her career changed paths, and Peter Chapman took over. Both were consummate professionals.
The copy Stan has is an advance one. I don't think the book will be available for purchase until November.
And if any of you stop by my forum, please just talk about decks. I don't want to be a moderator again. The involuntary twitching just stopped a couple of months ago.Andy

Very true. I'll give Pythagorus a nod. His thorem and a plumb bob have brought us a long way.
And that gravity stuff, what was his name - oh, yeah, Sir Isaac Newton. Why, there ought to be a law !

Hey Andy ...

I've read that as a business to invest in, overstock is pretty dicey , balanced on the knife's edge, so it wouldn't surprise me to hear they had a listing that was not available.Kind like those real estate agents that put out lawn signs in front of nice houses in good locations whether they have a listing or not...LOL

No idea how that works, unless they've contracted to buy some imperfect copies. Those are sold by the pound, and they're what you find at the deep discount places.Andy
