I asked, and Larry said that he would go so far as to use invective language to fix the board. Hope that's enough.
andy
*b TVMDCWhat is "Invective language"?
*OK, first, who's Larry?Second, invective language? You mean you're going to curse at it until it works? I've tried that (lotsa weird stares at my cubicle) and the $#!* don't work... besides, I thought we wanted a kinder, gentler board ;)
*Larry is the guy who understands how this technical stuff works. As I posted somewhere else, we haven't made these changes ourselves, or asked that they be made. The changes originate with the company that we contract the maintenance of the boards to. The invective language is to motivate our webhosts only, so don't worry about anything offensive showing up here. Andy
*Alright Andy, I've got your invective language right here! When you do get it sorted out, would you tell me so I can attempt to undo any changes I made in preferences? Thanks bud.
*My post disappeared! Another problem to look into someday!Oops! No it didn't! This thread is in the tavern too!Rich Beckman
*Mr. Pita,I'm not having a problem with the board. I guess I fixed it, send me the Yuengling, please...Missing the nation's oldest brewery, BB
*Hey naw,Yuengling is Alive and Well in Allentown, PA, just so you know.and the black + tan is very good!PB
*Ha! Fooled you!
*Phat, are you from Allentown? That's my old stomping grounds. I even got a tour of The Steel back when I was in high school and they still made steel in Bethlehem. Is Music Fest over? To the boards; WebCrossings apparantly updated their software. Among the choices that you have when setting preferences are threaded discussions or conversations. Threaded discussions allow you to respond to a specific message by clicking on the reply button, BUT, all the posts are listed in outline form. If you choose conversation, then you can scroll through the text of the thread, BUT, hitting the reply button only posts at the end of the thread.Larry is trying to figure out how to do an end run around this and get things back to normal. For now, remember that all change is bad, and this is no exception.Andy
*Thank you for the concise explanation, sir. Next time you're in Philly, lemme know and you'll have a Yuengling for real.
*I will. Perhaps to wash down a cheese steak. They don't know how to make those cholesterol-dripping bundles of joy up here. They even call them grinders. Go figure.Andy
*Odd. I always thought a grinder was a warmed hoagie on a toasted roll. And I haven't found a decent cheesesteak anywhere more than a 45 minute drive from Philly. :)
*I'm transplanted from Lancaster, and I'd agree with you except we used to drive 90 miles an hour.I'm emailing my dad for a yuengling and a cheese steak right now.and some Hammonds pretzels too, BB
*We can at least get Utz potato chips up here, you know, the ones that are still fried in lard. Unbeatable flavor. Can't find Schaeffer bologna or Taylor pork roll, though. We stock up when we visit the in-laws.Andy
*I'll second Andy on the Utz. Pretzels, though, not chips. Particularly the 'Specials'. Herr's makes em too now, and I prefer Herr's for my chips, Utz a close second. Can't say I've heard of Hammonds. In anyevent, enjoy the Yuengling and the weekend!
*I am drooling in anticipation.Utz ain't butts, BB
*Andy,Allentown rings a bell does it?You're a fine man then.I moved on myself in '85 but get back to visit now and then.Never pass through with out a few YACCO's hotdogs under the belt. Maybe even a cheese steak and an order of perogies if I think I deserve a reward.Music fest is alive and well I'm sure. It's about that time of year come to think of it and I bet the funnel cakes are gettin dusted right now. Good eats up there. Them Dutchies' make a heavy biscut. Never could get used to the potato rolls though. Just one please! The Steel is a museum now. Went to more than one wedding reception at their club on the hill.Ahh... the old days.I'm in TN for the forseeable future and the only taste of home available is Hanover Pretzles. A stout pretzle for a stout man. None of those thin jobbers at my place. GURRRRRRRAND TO ANYONE WHO THINKS THEY KNOW EAST PENNSYLVANIA BEER.....Yuengling is good but I could really go for a Straub right about now. What was this thread about??????? Good Pennsylvanians stick together! ......and eat! .....alot! BE Well to all, and to all, a good night! PB
*How about those fasnachts? (sp?) Dorney Park before it got big? Dodging potholes on 22? That was never very hard, though, 'cause I could never get up to more than about 15 mph due to the construction. McArthur Road before the Lehigh Valley Mall? I visit friends in Bethlehem occasionally, and the place keeps getting harder to recognize. Except for the potholes on 22. I'll have to check out the Steel as a museum.Andy
*OOOOOOH, fasnachts gooooood!Funny you should mention Dorney Park, that's where I got my start as a carpenter so many moons ago. You haven't done it all 'till you've done work 70' in the air on a wooden roller coaster! Ahh... that was livin'. Loved that place and the guys that kept it going.Keep your shocks in good order Andy and thanks for writing.Be Well, PB
*Thanks, now I know to never ride that one. Not that I'm criticizing your work or anything... ;)
