Hi everyone. I’ve been a casual observer of Breaktime for about a month and finally had time to sign up. After I graduate with a degree in construction management in about 2 weeks, I’ll be moving back to the southwest suburbs of Chicago. I’m hoping to use this as a way to gain any practical knowledge I can, maybe even be able to give a little insight into a question you have.

Glad to have someone else from Illinois around.
There are a couple of folks from Chicago here. Most notable is "Cork from Chicago". Don't remember any other names offhand.
I'm from central Illinois - South of Springfield. Of course - When you're from Chicago, anything south of I-80 is SOUTHERN Illinois. (-:
Hang around here a while - You'll learn more here than ya did in college.
The secret of success is knowing whom to blame for your failures.
hey, I'm in chicago too...
well in a few days anyway.
back to packing...
btw, I've learned way more here then I learned in college, and I was there a LONG time.

You still thinking about stopping here on your way up north?
Here's a map to where I work at:

Welcome aboard. I live in the real southern Illinois. Down by Mt. Vernon here. Hope to see you around. An inch to short. That's the story of my life !
bstcrpntr --- I hope to grow into this name.
I'd like too... but can't...
I will be passing through other times though, so maybe next time.
I'm going through Iowa to get there this trip, supposed to be faster, we'll see..
Hey Boiler,
Welcome aboard. I just moved from the Southwest suburb of Willowbrook, up to Buffalo Grove to be closer to work. Lots of great things down in the SW suburbs.
I'm doing residential finish and trim carpentry work in the North Shore area.
You'll find there are about a 1/2 dozen folks from the Chicago area (Scotty is one and CAG is moving here.)
I think you will find this is a good place to get lots of good info.
Have a good one.

Welcome, Boiler!
This is a great place to learn. The best threads (IMO) are the construction threads where several different approaches are described to address the same problem.
Of course, it rarely happens that anything comes up about which we don't all agree. (NOT!)
You're unique! Just like everyone else! Scott Adams
Welcome also, one of the best entrances yet seen.
Grew up about 40 mi NE of Boss ( I had the pleasure to meet Ron this Spring); DW * lived in River Forest for 4 years, her college roomate still lives about 4 mi south of ORD, roughly in your area.
Now live in Pac. NW.
PS: try making some outrageous comment or state an outlandish business opinion and you will be instantly well known. (IMHO, stay away from the political stuff, too many bloggers and trolls)
*DW = "dear wife", aka defensive, derragatory, delicious, desireable, deadbeat, etc. etc.. -- lot of acronynms here by some.
Welcome, Boiler.
NW Illinois here. About 2 1/2 hours from the SW burbs.
Hang around, join in and enjoy the collective experience and wisdom.
Fair Warning: BT can easily become addictive. <G>
