We got ants inside our house. This is nothing new but this time, I couldn’t figure out where they come from. I checked around the house, no trace at all. Any clue? My house is built on a concrete slab, single detached, fairly new, only 6 years.
This makes me think about termites. Although I did not see anything suspicious, should I get a
professional termite inspection every few years?
I am in the San Francisco Bay Area. Thanks.

This has been the year of the ants for us, as well. Must be El Nino. Same for neighbors. No apparent source, though they went away after I sprayed around the foundation with Diazinon.

An apartment I had in Berkeley a few years ago was also overrun by argentine ants. (Kinda cute, as long as they aren't swarming over your kitchen counters.) The apartment was surrounded by cement, so no way to get to them. I finally caulked every hole in the inside of the house, pulled off the moldings and caulked around the entire kitchen floor, and put gaskets on all of the electrical outlets (their favorite way to get into my kitchen.) This managed to keep them completely out for the several more years that I lived there. Good luck, for they are very persistent little critters.
