I may be moving to Utah within a year, and I’m just wondering about the prospect of working there.
I am currently in Ontario, Canada, and I do landscaping construction (decks, fences, natural stone walls, flagstone, lockstone, planting, etc)
I sub-contract for a Landscape Architect and do my own work as well. In the winter I do minor renovations and remodelling.
I will be in the Ogden area.

Turbo:
The commercial market here is a little soft right now after several huge years. Homes, though, are going up everywhere, literally. Even small towns have experienced growth. Be warned, Utah is a real DIY state. That, or everybody and his dog is a contractor. The rapid growth has made every hammer swinging framer a contractor. That's scary! If growth pace continues, you should be able to find a job.
I'm not a native Utard so one thing I can say about it here, most people I've met are generally the most genuine and nice people.
Be prepared for a huge geological, botanical, and meteorological difference. Rocky, usually brown, and dry.
Be sure to leave the inhabited metro valleys for the hills and canyons a lot. Utah is a really beautiful state once you are away from populated areas. Buy a Jeep(Wrangler) and hit the hills.
