Has anyone heard of Smart Drain? (http://www.smartdrain.com/) Has anyone used it? It is supposed to be superior to the typical gravel & PVC pipe trench for a surface water drain because they claim it will not clog like filter fabric does eventually with fine clay particles.

BUT, you surround it with coarse sand and it seems like that would attract an army of ants in my area. Also, if I have clay, won’t the coarse sand be clogged by fine clay particles eventually? The stuff is about $3/ foot and is placed vertically along a foundation wall. The top is sealed and the bottom empties into a small (2″) pipe by capillary action.

Any info would be appreciated.
