One mean machine. Don't let it's appearence deceive you.If you're
not watching it--- it will eat you.

It'll work, as long as you keep holding onto it. That's a hard day's work right there.

My father-in-law won't come over and help me anymore after the little beaver we rented just about killed us both. No reverse, binds on rocks of all sizes, but a funny name...... Ended up hiring a guy with a bobcat and auger attachment, for the 45 minutes he was here he punched more post holes than the little beaver, and cost the same.
Two friends of mine rented one and gave me the biggest laugh of my lifetime watching them use it. Started it up, both grabbed on and pushed down hard as it started to work. Auger went into the ground a lot easier then they expected and instead of auguring the dirt out it just screwed the auger into the ground to a depth of about 3 1/2 feet before it finally took hold. At that point the auger was securely anchored and the part they held onto began to rotate. Nearly broke both their arms but they were able to stop it just before it got out of completely out of control. Both of them spent the next three hours digging around the side of the auger to get the thing free of the soil and get it out of the hole. For awhile there it looked like they were going to have an auger as part of the back yard decor and many frantic calls to the rental yard were met with lots of laughter on the other end. Watching it had me in stitches for a good 1/2 hour, almost choked on my beer.
Yea, They can get away from you if you don't watch it. I use them were you can't get to with a bobcat or if it's just four or five holes with no big rocks.
