What’s the most common method for fastening the end joist when building a deck?
Since it’s right on the end, you can’t use a joist hanger, & it doesn’t seem like through nailing it into the end of the deck ledger would be real secure – screws would resist pullout better, but have less shear & your still fastening parallel to the grain of the ledger, so I don’t know how much advantage that would be…

Hang the end one just like all the rest. Then skin over the ugliness with 1X trim. Makes a better looking deck anyway.
OR, check with your local inspector for his/her opinion.
OR, use a Simpson angle bracket on the blind side of the joist, and toenails on the exposed side.
OR, find some paint that will match the color of stain that you intend to put on the deck.
Unless you're the lead dog, the view just never changes.
Nail an inside corner hanger to the joist and the ledger.
