I put Luan (spelling? I am referring to the super thin plywood used for underlayment.) sheets on top of the sufloor in my kitchen in order to lay vinyl tiles on top. I was told to attach the sheets with staples, so I used a cheap electric stapler. Followed up with a hammer but a lot of them didn’t seem to recess real well into the wood. When I was done I was left with a lot of little staple bumps coming through the vinyl tiles. Need some help to learn the right way to do this.

I think you were supposed to use 1/4" crown 1 1/4" staples driven with a pneumatic gun. Works a lot better.
Gonna try it again? Good luck! BB
*Help quick. Next week end I will attach my luan floor to the current subfloor of plywood. The plywood is well attached but rough. As I didn't think I would make it through some five to six hunbred screws, I bought a nail gun that shoots ring shanked nails. Tell me this is going to work and work well.Dennis
