We are building a house that is essentially 1.5 stories. I would like to encapsulate the attic at a reasonable cost. A good portion of the attic rises to over 20 ft in height which seems overkill for spray foaming that entire surface area. Does code allow for spray foaming up a portion of the wall, let’s say 9 feet, and then blowing in an air permeable insulation into an airtight bay above? Would use a vapor permeable membrane for air tightness and a ridge vent at the top. Maybe a vapor diffusion port at the top as well.
