Many moons ago, I was an avid member of Fine Home Building. I had ( for a while) a successful construction company in Oregon from 1995 to 2009 until the economy tanked and I fell from scaffolding 16 feet up onto a concrete slab, not feet first. Up until the end of this Februrary I was in different outdoor job and retired, but dabbled in remodel repair for family, kept most of my tools. Got rid of some that I wish I still had, like a real real good laser level, to name a few. But had to get rid of some things while I was in physical rehab and to help pay bills. I still swing a Stiletto Titanium and a Hart 25oz
Now my youngest son and family want me to move onto their farm north east of Fairbanks Alaska. ( I live in Alaska now) He wants me to build a 3 car garage and an apartment above it for me if I want ( the apartment that is) And when Im done with that, build a horse areana. Im taking him up on the offer for the garage this summer and am waiting right now for a guy to show up for a 3rd bid on excavation., My oldest son owns land in Seward Alaska and wants me to help him build a home next summer, this year he is doing septic, water and electric, SOOOO one of the first things I did was subscribe again to Fine Home Building. Been catching up a lot over the past few days.
Fun to be back form the past

Welcome back. Not many of the old gang here now, actually virtually none. Taunton kept "improving" things here until everyone left.
Life in Fairbanks sounds life fun.
Josh,
Some of the old gang hangs at BT3 since this site is so dead.

Even Piffin shows up occasionally at BT3.
The BT3 folks (and here) would love to hear how you deal with permafrost, etc....
PS: built an ADU at son's house (PNW) when 68 YO with help from preteen and teenage grandkids, was one of the most fun and satisfying 6 months of my life.
Past is always part of us, you are always welcome and I wish you good luck
