Hi,
I made a bit of a cock up when I tiled my kitchen backsplash. I, for some reason, started the tile about 1/4″ above the countertop. In my own defence I hadn’t installed all of the countertops, so it wasn’t apparent how big the gap was until I fitted the countertops. Raising the countertop height is not an option due to it having to tie in with other cabinets. I think the gap is too big for caulk and I’m afraid the sanded grout would crack. Is it possible to mix the grout with something to make is a little less brittle and give it a minimal flex? Tops are laminate.

You could use a caulk on the 1/4" gap if you used a backer rod. You're right about the sanded grout cracking..............mine did - lol.
You can usually buy caulking to match your grout color.
If it's no more than 1/4" caulk should be fine.

Many tiles have trim pieces like 1/2" 1/4 round.
Some have thin accent pieces too. Buic
As someone noted about color caulking.
I have used sanded caulk by the same makers as the grout I was using.

Forget the grout, you need moulding.
