I used a Bamboo, natural color back in 96.
It was in an old barn that was not really water tight.
So this product was an excellent choice since it will not absorb water as a conventional hardwood floor would.
The application was for a judo style studio. It was for
one of the Hienz “ketchup” heirs for a retreat home for
deprived kids. A large farm in Bucks county PA.
Can we say tax deduction.
The floor was milled nicely. But the finish did not seem to hold up to scratches very well. The product could be easly recoated with a tougher finish like Street Shoe or Traffic.
I paid $4.10 Sq. ft back in 96′ for 1600 ft. This included shipping to PA
the company was
Bamboo Flooring International Corp
20120 Paseo Del Prado, Suite E
Walnut CA 91789
I would recommend this product for the application you desire.

Thanks,Tim for your input.I think I'd like to give this stuff a try.
*Here's a link to an archived post. There are a few more buried in the files as well.Bamboo has potential. I haven't looked at it in the past few years, but there should be more info out on "long-term wear" by now, if you can consider 5-6 years to be long term. I do think it's an interesting product. From those who have had it installed (only about 3-4 that I personally know) I've heard no complaints. All still like it.

I was going through my latest issue of FHB and came across an add for bamboo flooring.Having just been asked to lay a floor in my dojo (karate school)I thought maybee I'd look into this bamboo stuff.
I loged on to there web site http://www.californiabamboo.com.They advertise it to be "13%harder than maple and 27%harder than red oak".And being a laminate more stable.
The price for pre-finished:$4.90sq.ft.compaired to maple that is about $5.18sq.ft. I my aria.
All that said, has enyone used or seen this stuff? any comment would help. thanks.
