Ive got a 3′ 220v electric baseboard to put in.Ran 12-2 w grnd; In wiring up the heater ive got Black to black ,white to red, bare cu. to bare cu for ground. The thermostat tho has a black and a red pigtail and green grnd screw. I know on 110v the switch interrupts the hot black but stymied by this combo. How do i wire this in regards to feeds to switch and out of the switch to the heater? Thanks

You use the thermostat to interrupt one of the hot wires. Either one. The other will not be switched (except at the circuit breaker).
Also wrap that white wire with black (or red) tape - it is both required and good practice to indicate that it is a hot wire instead of a neutral. Do it on all ends - at the C/B panel and at the heater and at the thermostat.
So break the red-white connection you made. Wrap the white with red tape. Run some 12-2 from heater to thermostat. Wrap both whites in red. Now do red to red and black to black at the t-stat. At the heater do incoming red (the white you wrapped) to red from t-stat. And black from t-stat to red to the heater.
