In the process of finishing my basememt, have already included a family room which is about 16 X13 and a storage room which is about 7X9, however the utility area side is holding me up. Problem is my girlfriend which may be my wife on day wants to make the space next to the laundry area a mini kitchen and leave it open to the family room …..since i plan on putting a bathroom on the side of laundry area this will reduce the size the laundry area. I may only be in this house for another 4-5 years and I only want to finish it so I can get the biggest return for my money when i go to sell it. My thought is that closing off the space next to the laundry room and adding a mini kitchen is not the way to go. Have a drawing in autocad lt but not sure how to post in on here…..probably would give youns a bette idea of what i am talking about…so if youns can give me adivce i would be thankful…need to finish the farming, got help coming next week to do drywall.
thanks
Dan

BTW this is an image re-sizer and converter for others who might want to resize images for here. I use another program(irfanview) but this is free too. It won't read the acad file, just gif, jpg, btmp.

Now I forgot what the question was so I copied from above,

I guess what isn't clear to me now is whether this drawing you have is the way you want it or thge way she wants it.
How the plumbing goes in will dominate the layout to some degree but I like the way it's drawn except that it seems like a lot of storage room. Is the space back under stairs to the right of the drawing basement or half base crawl and is the garage over basement or on slab?
OK - now that you other guys can see it let's tear it up...!.

Thanks for posting the drawing. The drawing is somewhat of a comprise between us....least i hope it will be.....she hasnt seen it yet. The bathroom basically has to go where it is because the main stack is right in the corner where the stairs come down into the basement. Reason I am putting in so much storage space is because the gragage is not that big and I plan on finishing the room in between the garage and baement into a gym and or home office. The garage and room in between on both slabs on grade. But if any youns have any advice on how best to use the space i would be thankful. Like i said, I or we may only be here 4 more years and I would like to do what would help sell the house and give me a better return. By the way the house is already a two bathroom house but I want a bathroom in the basement specially after working the yard and what not since both of the existing bathrooms are on the bedroom level of this bi-level house.
ok pros have at me........
Sorry to be dense but is the garage on the same level as the rest of the basement? and those other unfinished spaces are too? I know it is drawn that way but I'm not quite picturing a garage in a basement. Is this more of a walk out with bermed landscaping?.
